Spring is here and it’s time to get energised. As the days get longer and the weather gets a little bit warmer, check out some of our favourite ways to freshen up your gym routine!
Get up and go. Walk the dog, use the outdoor green gym or invite friends for a game of football in the park. Whatever you do, a dose of spring time sunshine will leave you feeling revitalised.
Make exercise more fun. When you need a bit of encouragement to hit the gym or go out for a walk, invite a friend to come along too! Someone who's close to your fitness level is ideal and if you make a fitness ‘date’, you’ll be more likely to stick to it!
Work out in the morning. Thanks to longer daylight hours you can beat your body clock by getting up earlier and hitting the gym before work – you’ll have more energy throughout the day!
Sign up for a run. Motivation is key to staying active, so find out if there are any races on in your area this spring and summer. Signing up to an event will give you a reason to train as well as something fun to look forward to!
Go for a weekend hike. Wrap up and head out for a long walk with your family or friends. There’s no better time to enjoy some fresh air in the countryside, and catch a healthy dose of vitamin D from the spring sunshine in the process!
Energy boosting snacks. Stay alert with healthy snacks like fruit, nuts and seeds instead of crisps and chocolate. These snacks are great sources of energy and vitamins! Regular cups of green tea help to speed up your metabolism and fight an energy slump.
Spring clean your gym routine. Make your workout more interesting by changing things up a bit. If you always exercise on the treadmill, why not give the bike a go? Change up your weight lifting routine, get a trainer or get an online training program from a professional if money is an issue.
